TEXTURES.002 / photo study / tropics + ruins
Just over a month ago, my husband I took off for Belize for a 13-day vacation. Our last "big" trip was back in 2011 for our honeymoon, so we were definitely due for a new adventure in a distant land. We started off by the sea on the laid-back Caye Caulker, then ventured into the jungle for some caving. From there we spent a day exploring the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal in Guatemala. Later we ended up on a private mangrove island called Hideaway Caye, then finished off our journey on the white sandy shores of Placencia. I took hundreds of photos, often with textiles in mind. This is a collection of some of my favourites that you may see integrated into new designs at JUNCO. Actually, the new JUNGLE design in the shop uses the feather image above. The feathers are from an iridescent turkey. I had know idea a turkey could have such beautiful feathers!
